Slightly warmer; thunderstorms possible Tuesday night and Wednesday

Our average high temp is 82 degrees this time of year in the Twin Cities.

We were nowhere near average this past weekend, with weekend highs in the 60s.

Despite the recent cool weather, our average temperature for the month of June (through Sunday) at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was still 3.9 degrees above normal:

We're making slow progress toward normal this week, reaching the lower 70s on Monday, with mid to upper 70s expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Highs are expected to be mainly in the upper 70s in the Twin Cities Thursday through Sunday.

Thunderstorm chances 

Scattered thunderstorms could move into western Minnesota late Tuesday, then spread eastward overnight Tuesday night.

We could see additional thunderstorms in parts of central and southern Minnesota Wednesday morning, with another batch developing in Minnesota Wednesday afternoon and evening.

The Twin Cities metro area is included in the marginal risk category for severe weather Wednesday and Wednesday night, which means that an isolated severe thunderstorms is possible:

Phoenix heat 

The official temp in Phoenix Arizona was 110 degrees at 4 p.m. local time on Monday.

It's likely to rise a bit more before sunset, which would give them their 9th consecutive day with a high temperature hotter than 110 degrees.
