Shower and thunderstorm chances

No all-day rains are in the forecast, but it would be good to have a plan "B" for outdoor activities in parts of Minnesota this Sunday afternoon and evening.

Our Sunday will feature scattered showers and thunderstorms over northern and central Minnesota, with a chance of a late afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm in the south.

It'll be breezy across Minnesota too.

Winds could gust over 30 mph in western Minnesota Sunday afternoon.

Very few have drought

We've had generous precipitation in much of the country since late 2016.

As a result, very few parts of the U.S. are experiencing drought conditions:

This week's update from U.S. Drought Monitor indicated that a small part of northwestern Minnesota was in the abnormally dry category, but no part of our state was experiencing drought:

Parts of Florida and southern Georgia have severe to extreme drought conditions.
