Mild temps, rain returns

We've seen some dense fog over much of Minnesota this morning, with many spots reporting visibilities below 1/4 of a mile.

With morning temperatures near freezing, there could be slick spots on some roads, ramps, driveways and sidewalks.

A dense fog advisory remains in effect until noon for much of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities:

OCCURING. OPERATING A VESSEL IN GALE CONDITIONS REQUIRES

EXPERIENCE AND PROPERLY EQUIPPED VESSELS. IT IS HIGHLY

RECOMMENDED THAT MARINERS WITHOUT THE PROPER EXPERIENCE SEEK SAFE

HARBOR PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF GALE CONDITIONS.

Mild temps

Our average high this time of year is 34 degrees in the Twin Cities metro area.

We'll see highs in the 40s today in the metro area and also over much of central and southern Minnesota.

Northern Minnesota will top out in the upper 30s.

Highs Monday will be a notch higher, with lower 50s possible from the Twin Cities through southeastern Minnesota:

The rest of Minnesota will see highs in the 40s on Monday.

Rain returns

A low pressure system will move northeastward from Nebraska later today through tonight.

The low is expected to spread rain into southeastern MN this Sunday afternoon, then across Minnesota and western Wisconsin this evening and overnight.

Parts of Minnesota could see rain totals of an inch or so tonight into Monday, and a thunderstorm is also possible.

The blue areas in North Dakota show where snow is expected later tonight and Monday.

The National Weather Service shows at least a 70% chance for 4 inches or more of snow from Monday into Monday night in the portions of North Dakota that are outlined in red:

Precipitation should stay in the form of rain on Monday over most of Minnesota.

We could see occasional rain and snow showers Tuesday through Thursday.
