Better Thanksgiving travel, near 50 at MSP Monday?

Gratitude is the Attitude of Awe. It is consciously recognizing and embracing the unfolding of your life as a wholly supported interactive gift designed to encourage expansion and joy. -Amber Huttner

There much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. The amazing words of my better three-quarters Amber above ring true to me this Thanksgiving. It's a worthy read, some good perspective on gratitude this season.

Our weather has given us plenty to be grateful for this year. Abundant water as some around the planet thirst for rain.  A record long 220 day growing season. The warmest and sunniest start to November on record. The arrival of more cooler seasonal weather. A fresh blanket of snow gracing the Thanksgiving landscape. All weather that Minnesotans of different weather persuasions can enjoy.

Thanksgiving Day brings dry travel on the way to your holiday gathering. The next shot of wintry mix to light snow arrives in the metro by Thanksgiving evening. Yet another shot of unseasonably warm air arrives this weekend. Enjoy the snow-covered landscape now. Your lawn may be green again by Monday.

Thanksgiving night dusting

Over the river and through the woods travel looks good on the way to Thanksgiving dinner. The trip home brings a little wintry mix to light snow tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Snowfall is probably an inch or less in most areas, but with temps falling below freezing it may get a little slick out there late tomorrow night and Black Friday morning.

Weekend warm front

After tomorrow night's Clipper, yet another November warm front pushes north this weekend.

This one brings air warm enough to produce mostly rain Sunday night and Monday. Watch as another unseasonably warm low pressure system pulls in southerly flow, and brings mostly rain by Sunday night.

Here's the graphical breakdown through the holiday weekend.

Temps on the above graphic could be conservative this weekend. NOAA's GFS is cranking out upper 40s to near 50 degrees by early Monday morning as a tongue of warm advection surges north into Minnesota. A 50-degree thermal ridge in late November?
