Cooler midweek, then a rebound

We hit 74 degrees in the Twin Cities this Monday, a whopping 13 degrees above average. Even Duluth topped 70 degrees this afternoon, which is impressive warmth on October 10th!

No need to break out the flip-flops, a cold front is lurking to the northwest.

The cold front moves slowly through Minnesota on Tuesday, spreading some showers eastward:

Periods of showers are a good bet Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Our Tuesday highs may stay in the 40s over parts of northwestern Minnesota:

Most of southeastern Minnesota will see 60s.

On Wednesday, highs in the 40s will be common across Minnesota, although the Twin Cities and southeastern Minnesota have a shot at lower 50s:

Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, temps could drop to the 20s over northern Minnesota, with lower 30s in the south:

Frost or freezing temperatures are expected in most areas, including the Twin Cities, early Thursday morning.

If you 're wondering whether we have warmer temps in the near future, the answer is yes.

Highs in the 60s return on Friday and 60s are also a good bet this weekend.
