Spotty showers Friday, dry Canadian breeze next week

Well that was nice while it lasted.

Thursday's glorious weather is a preview of coming attractions as we move deeper into September. In the meantime, one more low pressure wave zips east through Minnesota Friday, with a few more scattered showers in tow.

This looks like the last significant low pressure wave for a while. High pressure builds in this weekend for what is looking like an excellent early meteorological fall weekend.

After our spotty shower chances tonight and Friday, the quick look forecast features plenty of sun the next few days.

Long range forecast: Looks like September

The upper air flow over the northern tier of the U.S. favors a more west to northwest flow over the next two weeks. The result? Lots of days in the 70s, and even a few days with highs in the brisk 60s next week. Here's the upper air chart for September 22, and it looks a lot like fall.

The good news for drying out is, northwest flow is usually dry. Right now I see little rainfall between Saturday and next Friday.

Stay tuned.
