Shower and t-storm chance
Our gorgeous weekend weather continued into Monday, and no complaints were heard.
Our average high this time of year is 81 degrees in the Twin Cities, so our Monday highs in the lower 80s were very typical for the middle of August.
It's hard to believe that we are half-way through August... it seems like we were just watching July 4th fireworks!

The National Weather Service Global Forecast System model shows scattered showers and thunderstorms spreading eastward Tuesday and Tuesday evening:
In the Twin Cities, our best chance of seeing a thunderstorm appears to be from about mid-afternoon into the evening on Tuesday.
The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows a marginal risk of severe weather over southern Minnesota Tuesday and Tuesday night:
The marginal risk category means that an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible.
Here are the risk categories that are used by the Storm Prediction Center:
Warmer Wednesday and Thursday
Highs Tuesday will be in the lower 80s over southern Minnesota, with upper 70s to the north:
Highs will be a notch higher on Wednesday:
On Thursday, we'll see upper 80s over southern Minnesota:
A few spots could hit 90.
Dew points rise into the mid 60s over much of southern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon, and dew points could reach the upper 60s on Thursday. That'll feel steamy again!
Cold front brings more storms
A cold front will approach Minnesota late Thursday, and it will move through the state on Friday. The front could ignite some strong thunderstorm late Thursday into Friday.
The cold front will usher in some cooler and drier air that will linger through the coming weekend. How cool? It will be a "70s weekend".

The 6 to 10 day outlook from the NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency toward cooler than normal temps:
The outlook covers the period from August 21 through August 25, which is from next Sunday through the following Thursday.
Maybe our air-conditioners will get an extended break, which will lead to lower electric bills!
