Great weather for July 4 weekend

Meteorologists love to talk about pleasant Fourth of July holiday weather.

Trips to the cabin, backyard barbecues, and fireworks displays are all weather-sensitive.

Our Canadian neighbors have sent us a Fourth of July weekend gift, in the form of a high pressure system that will settle in over Minnesota and Wisconsin today. It will stay nearby through the weekend:

The high pressure system drifts slowly away Sunday night and Monday.

We expect a lot of sunshine this holiday weekend.  The only shower chance showing up on the forecast maps would be over far northern Minnesota on Saturday night and Sunday.

Pleasant high temps

Highs will be in the 70s today across Minnesota:

It should be a couple of degrees warmer tomorrow, but still in the 70s:

Highs on Sunday will range from the upper 70s over northern Minnesota to the lower 80s in the south.

On the Fourth of July, you can expect an increase in humidity as southerly breezes pick up. Far northern Minnesota will see highs around 80, with lower 80s cover central Minnesota and mid 80s over the south.

Steamy 90s could return around mid-week, so enjoy nature's free air conditioning over the next couple of days!

July outlook

Our average temperature for the month of June was 2.4 degrees above normal in the Twin Cities. June was was our tenth consecutive month with an above normal monthly temperature!

The July temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows a tendency for above normal temperatures over Minnesota and Wisconsin:
