Thunderstorms at times, a severe thunderstorm is possible

The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows a slight risk of severe weather for far southwestern Minnesota today and tonight. The rest of southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area, has a marginal risk for severe weather:

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible anytime today and tonight. The chance of an isolated severe thunderstorm in the Twin Cities will be mainly between the hours of 4 pm to 8 pm. A severe thunderstorm could happen earlier than that in southwestern Minnesota.

Cold north, mild south
Highs over southern Minnesota could reach the 70s this afternoon, but it will be much cooler over central and northern parts of our state:
Highs in the 40s are expected in Bemidji and Brainerd, and Duluth may stay in the upper 30s. Central Minnesota, and possibly some northern suburbs in the Twin Cities, will see highs in the 60s.
Cool week ahead
We might touch 60s early Monday, with slowly falling temperatures in the afternoon. Highs in the 50s are expected Tuesday through Thursday:
We can expect some showers on Monday, and a thunderstorm is also possible. Tuesday should be dry, then showers return on Wednesday.
