I'm honored to be invited to introduce the showing of Ice and the Sky Sunday afternoon at the 35th Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival. The film shows at St. Anthony Main Theatre 3 Sunday, Apr 17 4:45 PM and again Saturday, Apr 23 11:15 AM.

In 1955 Claude Lorius replied to an ad for a one-year journey in the Antarctic. Sixty years later, after more than 20 expeditions, Lorius is a glaciologist who has led the way in studying the alarming effects of climate change. Director Luc Jacquet, who brought us March of the Penguins, tells Lorius’ story “as a genuine reflection of our planet’s history.” Ice and the Sky is an inspirational documentary on Lorius’ life—full of fascinating archival footage and amazing vistas of the Antarctic landscape—but also a cautionary tale on how rapidly and irrevocably these vistas are changing.
MPR Meteorologist and host of Climate Cast, Paul Huttner sheds a ray of light on the correlation between local Minnesota weather patterns and our changing global climate. Paul Huttner is chief meteorologist for Minnesota Public Radio.
