A nice weekend

Temperatures rebounded nicely today, reaching the upper 50s in the Twin Cities by late afternoon. We had plenty of sunshine, but clouds lingered over southwestern Minnesota:

Rain to the south on Saturday

A low pressure system will track through Missouri on Saturday, and it could deliver some showers to far southern Minnesota:

Areas of Minnesota along the Interstate 90 corridor and southward have the best chance of Saturday showers.

Highs Saturday will be a bit below normal, but OK for the last day in April:

Highs in the 50s will be common in Minnesota, with some spots touching the lower 60s. Winds blowing in off of Lake Superior will limit highs to the 40s in some areas along the north shore.

Late April snowstorm

I noticed in the almanac that we had 6.6 inches of snow in the Twin Cities on this date in 1984. Another 3.1 inches were recorded the following day, as the snowstorm ended. That is a snowstorm of 9.7 inches at the end of April!

I'm glad I don't have to mention anything like that in this forecast.

Warming trend this week

Sunday will be pleasant, with plenty of sunshine and highs in the lower 60s. Monday will be even warmer, and we could pop into the lower 70s on Tuesday:

A weak cold front will drop our highs back into the lower 60s on Wednesday.
