Razor sharp metro snow cutoff zone

Weather Underground

Tale of two forecasts

If you ever needed proof that "all weather is local" take a look out the window. If your window is in the north metro it looks pretty quiet. Southeast metro? Winter. Clearly the "metro" is not one place.

Chalk one up for NOAA's GFS model. At least for the southeast half of the metro.

Snow continues in the southeast half of the Twin Cities. Not a flake in the northwest half. The razor sharp cutoff line is about as clear as the other side of the street.

Winter storm warnings continue south of the metro including Scott and Dakota Counties. To the north, folks in Anoka, Blaine even north Minneapolis suburbs are wondering what all the fuss is about.

Expect snow to continue for several more hours int he southeast half of the metro. Little or no impact northwest half of metro. Winter storm conditions continue for southern Minnesota tonight.

Roads in the central metro have been mostly wet so far. That is starting to change.

Roads in the south metro will continue to be snow covered and slippery through tonight. Plan accordingly.
