Few flakes possible Saturday, peeks of sun on Sunday

The days all seem kind of similar lately. Lots of clouds, occasional flakes, then repeat. High temperatures are stuck near normal, and no big temperature changes are in sight.

We could see occasional flakes overnight and Saturday morning over Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

When do we reach 50 again?

Forecast models keep highs in the 40s through Monday, then a brief warmup on Tuesday:

With enough sunshine, we could be well into the 50s on Tuesday. A low pressure system moves closer on Wednesday, with a chance of showers. We could have a few flakes mixed with the showers early Wednesday, and also Wednesday night and Thursday.

The forecast models show the possibility of mostly snow over northern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin Wednesday and Thursday. We will keep you updated, that is still several days away.

Flooding in some areas

The Duluth office of the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Aitkin MN area beginning Saturday morning. In their words:

"Spring snowmelt along with rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches earlier this

week have resulted in strong rises on the Mississipi River.  River gauges in

the upper Mississippi Headwaters show many tributaries are cresting today.

Minor flooding is expected for the next several days as water routes

downstream through the Aitkin area."

The Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for some locations in western Wisconsin:
