Mini thaw today, light snow returns late tonight
New year, same weather. At least for another 36 hours.
The calendar says January. But like December and November, temperatures are still running well above average so far this month.

We enjoy a mini thaw today, and again tomorrow before the season's first true arctic punch arrives Saturday.
Low pressure slides toward Milwaukee tomorrow. The next wave of light snow brings a couple inches as it paves the way for this weekend's Arctic front.
Here's the system. Arctic air pours south on gusty northwest winds behind the departing low pressure center by early Saturday.
We'll tweak temps going into the weekend, but expect a few nights of sub-zero next week.
