Severe weather possible late Saturday

Our Saturday is starting out beautifully, with plenty of sunshine and comfortable humidity levels.  Most of the day will be very enjoyable, but be alert to changeable weather from later this afternoon into tonight.

An approaching low pressure system and upper level disturbance are expected to ignite some thunderstorms later today, and a few severe thunderstorms are possible.

The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service has most of southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin in a slight risk category for severe weather later today and tonight. Large hail and damaging thunderstorm winds are the main threats, but an isolated tornado is also possible.
