On edge of Severe T-Storm Watch until 9 pm

NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 pm for much of Wisconsin and a chunk of southeast Minnesota.

The watch area does not include MN portion of Twin Cities metro, but does include Wisconsin metro counties and much of southeast Minnesota.

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF EXTREME NORTHEAST IOWA SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN WISCONSIN LAKE MICHIGAN

* EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 310 PM UNTIL 900 PM CDT.

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...SCATTERED LARGE HAIL LIKELY WITH ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH LIKELY A TORNADO OR TWO POSSIBLE

SUMMARY...THUNDERSTORMS ARE BEGINNING TO INTENSIFY OVER WESTERN WI AND SOUTHEAST MN...NEAR A WEAK SURFACE LOW. THIS ACTIVITY WILL SPREAD SOUTHEASTWARD ACROSS THE WATCH AREA THIS AFTERNOON...WITH SUPERCELL STORMS POSSIBLE. DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL APPEAR TO BE THE MAIN THREATS.

The highest chances for severe storms will favor areas east and southeast of the Twin Cities. A few isolated to scattered storms may clip the Twin Cities this evening, but they will most likely remain below severe (58 mph winds, 1"+ diameter hail) limits.
