Winds of April, fire risk again today
April isn't foolin' around this year. We opened the month with a record highs in the 80s, high winds, fire danger and borderline severe storms that put on a great light show over the metro last night.
What next? More fire danger.
Today's cooler breezes are still above average as the next high pressure wave builds in. Winds mellow as the pressure gradient relaxes Friday.
Wednesday's wind and rain softened up area lakes that still cling to stubborn but faltering ice. Expect more metro area lakes to be declared ice free after today's gusts. Track updates here.
The weather looks fairly placid as we head toward the weekend. A system Monday offers a shot at another potential rain-snow mix.
It will take a couple more days for the models to lock onto temperature profiles with Monday's system, but we need the moisture in any form it may come.
