April showers today, sunny and 60s and 70s ahead
The rain is like music to my ears in the Weather Lab gutters this morning.
Waves of welcome April showers sail through Minnesota today as the wettest system in a while delivers rain and thunder to the Midwest.
Low pressure sails northeast toward the Great Lakes today bearing rain and thunder. High pressure dives south behind the system, scouring out skies tomorrow and bringing welcome sunshine and milder temps this weekend.
The system looks good to produce a swath of half-inch-plus rain from the metro east. Totals should reach 1 inch at most locations east of the metro.

10 tornadoes touched down yesterday, mostly in open country in Kansas. The severe threat shifts east today.
The forecast looks much sunnier and milder the next few days. Temperatures will run a good 20 to 30 degrees warmer into early next week.
Please attempt to ignore any wild rumors about accumulating snow in the metro late next week. It's probably weather fantasy.
Enjoy!
