Get ready for November’s biting chill

A clipper-like system swept through the region on Wednesday with a nice measure of precipitation from Fargo (0.4 inch), through  St. Cloud (0.25 inch) and Eau Claire, Wisconsin (0.25 inch).  The snowfall report of 0.6 inch from Grand Forks was posted as a record for Nov. 5.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport tallied a mere 0.04 inch of moisture.

A swath of snow extended from North Dakota through central Minnesota into northern Wisconsin.  The National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center painted this graphic of snowfall observed on Wednesday.

After a rather quiet and somewhat cool day today another system travels across the upper Midwest on Friday with a mix of rain and snow.  This weather-maker clears Minnesota on Friday night, with a brisk day in store for Saturday.

Saturday looks to be the day to wrap up outdoor chores, particularly in the afternoon.  Winds will be a tad gusty in eastern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Another bout of rain mixed with snow arrives Sunday into Monday before the real chill comes calling.  The confidence level is rather high for this intrusion of cold air.
