Tonka reaches highest level in nearly 12 years
One look at the popular west Twin Cities metro lake they call Tonka these days and you can see there's more than enough water to go around.
My eyes can get buggy looking through the lake level data for the past few years, but by my read Monday's multi-inch deluge pushed Lake Minnetonka to the highest level in nearly 12 years this week.

I've seen many docks under water this week, and water creeping onto normally dry lawns near the lake. A high water advisory is on effect as you venture out on the lake this weekend.
Minnehaha Creek dangerously high for paddlers
The discharge of 300 cubic feet per second coming out of the Gray's Bay Dam means Minnehaha Creek is running swiftly. I caught this image of fast water flowing from the Gray's Bay Dam in Minnetonka into Minnehaha Creek Thursday.
The swift flow of 300 CFS is considered too high for safe canoeing for most, so keep that in mind if you are thinking about a ride on the creek this holiday weekend.
The creek is running high for boaters, but the view and roar from Minnehaha Falls should put on a great show this weekend!
