Waiting for the "Thaw"
It was nice to climb above the freezing mark yesterday for the 1st time in 5 days. 164 straight hours below freezing? No problem, but we haven't done that in the metro since last January.
We bounce around in the 30s this week. As warm air begins to push north over the cooler air near the surface... we may see a little "overrunning" precip that could fall as light snow or freezing rain Thursday night into early Friday.

50s again?
The weekend looks mild again, with temps likely surging into the upper 40s with ease. If we get any sun this weekend, and we might...temps could push 50F.
By Monday, a full blown southerly wind flow will pump milder air into Minnesota. The "thermal ridge" or axis of warmest air will set up over Minnesota Monday.
That should help boost temps well into the (upper?) 50s.
The best chances for early December rain appear to be Saturday & Monday.

Rare December thunder (& severe?) threat Monday?
The GFS and Euro are painting a picture that includes a strong low pressure system passing through northern Minnesota Monday.

There may be enough upper air "dynamics" and surface warmth to generate a few rare December T-Storms...and a strong storm is not out of the question in the Upper Midwest.
November tornadoes and December thunder? What a year!
Weather Widgets?
I like to throw in a few "weather widgets" here and there in Updraft. There are some interesting things going on with automation and weather blogging and apps these days.
It's a nice way of keeping updated weather alerts, forecasts and weather related news and climate content flowing 24/7.
Here are a few I like. Check back to see new headlines during the day.
