Severe Thunderstorm Watch northwest Minnesota

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m. CDT for a large part of the eastern Dakotas and northwest Minnesota. Storms were increasing in intensity as they marched eastward.

THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND DO OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL BE THE PRIMARY SEVERE STORM THREATS. AN ISOLATED TORNADO OR TWO CANNOT BE RULED OUT GIVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR EMBEDDED SUPERCELLS...BUT RATHER MODEST LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE FOR EARLY AUGUST AND A PREDOMINANTLY LINEAR CONVECTIVE MODE SUGGEST THE TORNADO RISK WILL REMAIN SOMEWHAT LIMITED.
