Beach weather weekend; Slight thunder threat

The Dog Days of Summer are here!

This is the weekend to pull out all the stops, and head for the beach! Just keep one eye on the western sky for a slight thunder threat.

It's a classic summery weekend in Minnesota. Minnesotans will bask in highs near 90 in the south and 80s north. Dew points will climb back into the 70s, and you'll notice the increase in humidity this weekend.

A weak frontal system will bring a chance of a few thunderstorms Saturday & Saturday night. The best chance for heavy rain will be along the Canadian border and in northern Minnesota. Bemidji, Grand Rapids, International Falls, Ely & the Iron Range could see some big storms Saturday afternoon.

A few (fading?) storms may make it as far south as the metro late Saturday night into the wee hours of Sunday morning.

SPC maintians a slight risk for severe storms, especially in the northern half of Minnesota.
