Snow encroaching on Metro area

Radar screen capture at 845AM. Snow will begin to fall soon in the metro. Heavy snow accumulated three inches in two hours in Mankato. The yellow color on the radar is snow falling at an inch or more per hour.

This infrared satellite image from 8AM indicates a bright band of moisture laden clouds over the Dakotas, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Radar and Satellite are depicting some drier air nudging into far soutwest Minnesota.

There will eventually be a pivot point where the snow moves more west to east than north. I still expect a foot or more of snow from Willmar to near the Twin Cities.

Follow the storm from the National Weather Service. Check out snowfall reports as they are delivered to the NWS.
