Thanksgiving Travel: Just a few flakes

Twin Cities NWS graphical forecast highlights light snow this evening.

There is good news today from the Weather Lab. It appears our little "Alberta Clipper" is just that. Little.

The second area of low pressure this week is spinning thought southwest Minnesota today. The system brings only light rain and snow to the state through tonight. It's interesting to note that this system lacks one common element with Alberta Clipper type weather systems. Cold air. Temperatures behind the low are in the upper 20s and lower 30s, not exactly the arctic air we are used to with your typical Alberta Clipper.

Expect rain and snow showers if you're planning travel anywhere around the region today. The good news is surface temperatures should remain mostly above freezing. That should keep roads mostly wet, and any snow accumulations on the light side.

The sun will return for Thanksgiving Day. Bright sun and milder temperatures in the 40s will return for Black Friday and Saturday.
