Dome Sweet Dome

Right on schedule.

Rain is increasing in coverage and intensity tonight. I can't help but wonder what it would be like for Vikings and Twins fans without the protection of the Dome this week. Picture the rain coming down on poncho clad Minnesotans during the Vikings-Packers game tonight on national TV. Imagine Twins fans huddling under cover or seeking refuge in one of the many restaurants in Target Field. The much maligned and unstylish teflon roof at the Metrodome has never looked better than it does this week. It's always 70 and sunny in the dome.

We're going to have to change our mindsets a little next year when it comes to outdoor baseball. We've been lucky so far with good weather for Gopher football at The Bank. The Twins have done a lot to build in shelter at Target Field. There will be plenty of luxurious nook and crannie watering holes to duck into during inclement weather.

Our next early October weather maker will continue to bring on the rain tonight and through much of Tuesday. The computer models are cranking out some periods of heavy rain tonight, and upping rainfall totals for the metro a bit today. The NAM model is cranking out 1.86" of rain for the metro by late tomorrow.

It will be a chilly rain with temperatures hovering around 50 degrees again the metro again tonight. The rain should taper to showers Tuesday evening. Wednesday looks to be the best day of the week with brilliant sunshine and temperatures near 60 degrees by mid-afternoon.

Enjoy the pitter patter of rain on your roof tonight and Tuesday as you watch the warm dry fans in the weather friendly confines of the Metrodome.
