Torndoes skip through west metro Saturday evening

Storms rapidly deveopled around 8pm Saturday evening in the west metro. Around 8:30pm, the first tornado touchdown was reported near Mound on the west end of Lake Minnetonka. Possible tornado damage was also reported in Orono, Long Lake and Plymouth.

NWS survey teams will be out Sunday to determine the number of tornadoes and EF Scale intensity.

Here are the storm reports as the storm moved through the northern metro and into Wisconsin.

It appears as if the best chance of severe weather Sunday will favor southeast Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Kind of a bust. High dewpoints, unsettled air. We got pretty much nothing. :( I’m afraid this was our best shot at a good storm for the entire summer. The ingredients haven’t come together very often this year, and when they have, it’s fizzled. Last night was no exception.
