Today is Earth Day. Mother Earth, the best placed I ever lived. Help it thrive, at least for the next generation. This afternoon at 1pm, in room C1095, I will be speaking at Normandale College on climate change.
During this Severe Weather Awareness Week, the National Weather Service is highlighting flash flood safety today. Here is an interesting couple of statistics....75 percent of flash flood deaths occur at night with half of the victims dying in their automobiles or other vehicles. It may be difficult to believe, but many deaths occur when persons knowingly drive around road barricades indicating the road is washed out ahead.
Think twice about driving through a flooded roadway, even if the guy in front of you takes a risk and the driver behind you is honking the horn. You control your own journey.
