Regardless of the month, it’s still a blizzard

Hard to call it a winter storm in April, but we have a heck of snowstorm setting up from South Dakota, Nebraska, to Iowa, the southern quarter of Minnesota and into southern Wisconsin.

Blizzard conditions are most likely in far southwest Minnesota and western Iowa on Saturday night and Sunday morning with winds gusting to 40 mph in open country. Brisk northeast winds will blow snow horizontal. Heavy accumulations of six inches or more can be expected, particularly near the Iowa/Minnesota border.

Snow is likely as far north as the Twin Cities Metro after dark on Saturday and into mid morning on Sunday.

A cold, raw wind will blow throughout the day Sunday. Monday brings more chill and flurries.
