Going down

Take a look at the hydrograph for the Red River at Fargo/Moorhead from late this afternoon. Does it appear to you that the River has crested ata 40.82 feet? This is a new record dating back to 1897. Crest refers to the highest level the river is forecast to reach or has reached.

Red River Crest and now falling at Fargo

You'll recall the original forecast from the staff at the North Central River Forecast Center was between 39 and 41 feet.

There is still some moisture in the snow and ice, but the chilly temperatures and the potential for more snow will stunt the runoff the next several days.
