Unsettled

There is your Farmer's Almanac weather word for the month of March. I was just thumbing through the Old Farmer's Almanac getting a heads up for their prediction for our region for March. Their meteorological experts are not hopeful of an early spring, looking at temperatures to average well below normal for the month.

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center has got the right idea and offering up equal chances for above or below normal temperatures.

NOAA's March and spring outlook, remember the colors are confidence level not magnitude of above or below normal.

March often brings unsettled weather, with air mass jockeying for dominance. When I was in Indiana in the 80s there was a double meaning for March Madness with wild swings in weather mixed in with NCAA basketball. When unseasonably mild weather brought the threat for tornadoes we interchanged the phrase Hoosier Hysteria.

We move towards unsettled weather as we approach the weekend.
