NWS weather story highlights tonight's snow event.

We're about due.

With only half an inch of snow this month, we're running 5" below average in the metro for the month. We'll do a little catching up tonight.

Snow spreading from west to east will likely lay down a swath of 1" to 3" for the metro. The heaviest band should set up along the Minnesota River Valley and into southern Minnesota where 2" to 4" with isolated 5" totals could fall.

We'll have ot keep an eye on the heavy snow band as there are some indications it could shift east into the metro tonight.
