Drama yet to build
Not to be outdone by Dr. William Gray of Colorado State, famous for his long range outlooks of the hurricane season, NOAA released an updated tropical storm outlook last week.
Updated 2008 hurrricane outlook
Coming off of back to back relatively calm hurricane seasons, both Gray and NOAA continue to predict increased tropical storm activity as we move towards the season's peak.
I may be seasoned soothsayer, but this seems akin to trying to predict the number of winter storms in the continental U.S. in October and updating the outlook in January.
In case you forgot, we've already had one category two hurricane, Dolly, move through southeast Texas. The prime time season is near at hand.
One has to wonder if these outlooks enhance or impact in any way the preparedness of communities along the coastal areas. I suspect FEMA has more portable trailers positioned for rapid transit.
