Give ’em something to talk about
The recovery from Sunday's snow storm in the Northland continues. The region that couldn't buy snow in the first three months of the New Year, received a beneficial, wet snowfall on the weekend. Since much of the snow accumulated late Saturday night and into Sunday, there was minimal impact on travel. It was also well advertised on Friday night.
Weather aficionados have turned their attention to the next potentially problematic storm that is taking shape for later in the week. By all accounts the weather system progged by computer models will deliver some significant weather to the Nation's midsection.
Details, details, details! Meteorologists will sort this all out as the dynamics evolve. Vertical temperature profiles, jet streams, storm center movement and trends will all be examined. Business will be brisk in the weather lab the next five days.
Borderline freezing/thawing temperatures could make the difference between a cold rain or a heavy wet snow in central Minnesota. Precipitation could transition back and forth from liquid to ice.
