Fake inspectors try to scam restaurants

A restaurant inspection scam is showing up in Fargo.

The fraudsters call restaurants and try to extract detailed business and personal information they can use for identity theft.

Doug Jensen at Fargo Cass Public Health says four restaurants in Fargo and one in West Fargo have gotten suspicious calls from people trying to set up health inspections.

All of the restaurants reported the calls to public health officials.

Fargo officials say the restaurant inspection scam has been reported in cities across the country.
