Duluth Art Institute’s executive director steps down

Kat Eldred is leaving her position as executive director of the Duluth Art Institute.

Eldred has served on the DAI's board of directors since March 2010, and has led the institute since May 2012.

Under her leadership the institute created its new "Artistic Duluth Art Auction" as well as its "Steampunk Spectacular."

Eldred grew up in Minnesota, but spent much of professional career on the East Coast, and always planned to return. That move came up sooner than expected when her husband was offered a job there.

Her last day on the job is Jan. 17.

The institute's board is forming a transition team to find her replacement. Curator Anne Dugan will serve as interim director.
