Movin’ on up: workers to install tower crane at Vikings stadium site

Masons were finishing the footing for a crane tower along 11th Avenue this afternoon, just east of the site of the new Vikings stadium. Mortenson Construction said the crane is scheduled to go up on the site this week, the first of five expected to stripe the Minneapolis skyline as the project proceeds.

Builders also poured the concrete shallow foundations this week. "That's the beginnings of the real new building itself," said Allen Troshinsky, operations director at Mortenson Construction. "Those are getting underway... with some concrete footings and pile caps and grade beams. Another milestone that's right upon us, and we're excited to actually be making some improvements on the site."
