How I hope Minnesota is better than Nevada

I'm finally back from the second leg of my paternity leave. (It was five weeks, and I've got plenty of pictures, but for some reason this blog won't let me upload them.

It's time for me to start a Minnesota College Savings Plan -- just as I said I would do in November -- but I must say my family's experience in Nevada has put me into procrastination mode.

My in-laws in Nevada wanted to start a college fund there for my daughter. It ended up taking a few hours, two trips to the credit union, procurement of my daughter's Social Security number and my wife's physical presence at the bank to start the darned thing up.

Never has giving seemed so hard.

So Minnesota, please make it easy.
