When MSU-Moorhead students stuck it to The Man

“We always like to think the rebellious students were in the 1960s. I’ve got news for you: There was some rebellion in the 1950s.”

-- Minnesota State University - Moorhead archivist Terry Shoptaugh about a 1957-58 student rebellion that brought down the university's authoritarian president.

The cause? Student fees for a monument to the prez, as some see it. The clash -- which included a prank, seized newspapers and a little fire -- will be the subject of a panel discussion on activism scheduled for this Friday at the university.
