Where Northwestern College students will be hanging out

Check out Northwestern College’s Billy Graham Community Life Commons, which the college says is “the centerpiece” or “family room” of the campus, which is in St. Paul. (Clarification: Technically, it’s Roseville, with part of the campus in Arden Hills.) The student center has already had a soft opening, but will have the official celebration in October.

It will contain a dining facility, campus store, mail center, student government office, Leadership Center, faculty offices, classrooms and prayer rooms.

Graham, the televangelist, was Northwestern’s second president, serving from 1948 to 1952.

  • Can someone please call Northwestern College and inform them that their campus is NOT IN ST PAUL?

And can we please stop reporting in the media that it is?

Or else, I’m gonna start claiming that my workplace-Normandale-is in Minneapolis. Which it isn’t.

      Interesting.

They list their official mailing address as:

      3003 Snelling Avenue North

      St. Paul, MN 55113-1598

Despite a number of other St. Paul references, it appears you have to go into the “Location” section of the Web site to see that they’re indeed located in Roseville.

Got a call in to see what’s up with the mailing address — whether they chose it, or whether it’s some sort of strange holdover from some old postal classification system. (I’ve seen those things before.)

And we need to remember that many of those reading the blog may be in another part of the state (or region) and not know where Roseville is. St. Paul serves as a better point of orientation for them.

(Update: Joan Ayotte of the marketing department said the campus is split between Roseville and Arden Hills, but that the postal service allows Northwestern to use the St. Paul name, as it does other businesses that are located in a suburb but want or need the St. Paul location for better recognition.)

    • Northwestern can still be considered to be in St. Paul.  Especially if you are from out of state.
