I’ve been meaning to post this for a while. Might be useful to legislators who discuss faculty salaries and higher-ed funding, as was evident earlier this year.

It’s from the Chronicle of Higher Education, where you can read the notes to the table.

The data is from schools that use academic ranks (essentially four-year institutions. Two-year colleges are a separate table, which I’m working on.)

It’s broken down by gender, adjusted to a nine-month work year and includes full-time instructional staff, but excludes those in medical schools.

Dashes mean the institutions have fewer than three faculty members in that rank, and blanks mean those schools have none.
