St. Cloud State University is now among the 5 percent of American higher-ed institutions that have mobile websites, the St. Cloud Times reports:

The mobile site offers campus maps, news stories, events, sports scores and Google-based search of the stcloudstate.edu website. It caters to students who want fast access to basic information and will be expanded over time. ...

Possible future uses include access to a system that updates students about the availability of computers across campus, making available course schedules, student directory information and library services.

It has also launched some mobile phone apps that

provide, for example, a campus tour with videos and interactive maps -- much of which (audio, video) was produced by students.

(The Times says the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University will launch a mobile website this month -- one with a directory and event listings, as well as bus schedules, maps, news and general school info.)
