Anoka metal course has interviews, jobs practically lined up

Score another one for the two-year colleges.

Anoka Technical College's precision sheet-metal class seems to offer what most students dream of: free classes, pre-arranged job interviews and high chances for a job right after graduation.

This KSTP segment talks about the course -- how the $2,000 classes are free because of a Department of Labor GreenPOWER program, how 11 out of 12 graduates had jobs last term, and how the program has been expanding.

Mike Bauman of Pentair, which hires many of the graduates, tells the station:

"The school offers an incredible program. Yes, we have jobs today. And we're interested in finding the best-qualified candidates, and this program provides them the certification necessary to be successful in our field."
