University CFOs to lawmakers: Stop eyeing our reserves
Laura King, chief financial officer for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, explains to MPR's Tim Post why legislators shouldn't see colleges' reserve funds as solutions to shortfalls in state funding:
"That wouldn't be the way you'd want to use it. Because it creates a continuing obligation that you don't have the resources for."
