Future still unknown for closed Common Ground house The former Common Ground house, which was closed last spring because of safety concerns and overdue repairs, is currently under renovation. There is no decision yet on what the house will be used for, according to Jacob Cunningham, VISION director. Some students hope the Common Ground house, located at 2154 Summit Ave., will not be closed for good. (tommiemedia.com)
Gay Pride Flag Burned At Albion College According to a statement from Albion College President Donna Randall, students burned a Gay Pride Flag on the Michigan school's campus last month. An ensuing investigation discovered that students found the flag in a trash can and burned it behind a campus building. The incident followed events for the college's Coming Out Week. However, according to the Albion Pleiad, the students went unpunished. (Huffington Post)
Late season is bonus season for college football coaches As the college football season winds down, coaches' bonuses are adding up, according to an examination of contracts by USA TODAY. One big winner is Chris Petersen of No. 4 Boise State. On Saturday, his team got its eighth win, triggering a one-year contract extension through 2015 at a $1.49 million salary that year. But he's far from the only coach to cash in so far. (USA Today)
U. of Texas to End 20-Year Partnership With a Junior College An agreement that allowed students from Texas Southmost College to readily transfer to the system's Brownsville campus will be phased out. (chronicle.com)
