Tomorrow (Thursday Sept. 2), state officials will unveil an online service -- believed to be the first such service in the United States -- that helps vets figure out how much credit they'd get if they attended a school in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system.

MnSCU officials say hundreds of military jobs can lead to civilian careers with additional education. For example, with a little more training, light-wheel Army vehicle mechanics can become diesel mechanics.

They say the Veterans Education Transfer System will help veterans complete their college education more quickly and at less expense to taxpayers.

It's one of three electronic tools for veterans that MnSCU officials will announce.
