Rep. Wagenius: We need ag ethics group

I'm at a meeting of the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources. They're now taking a lunch break to watch Troubled Waters: A Mississippi River Story, the river pollution documentary that the University of Minnesota pulled and later allowed to be shown. I've taken notes.

So far, the commission's co-chair, state Rep. Jean Wagenius (DFL), told U of M College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences dean Al Levine:

It's time the U has an agricultural ethics (group) just as it has in biomedical ethics.

Levine said a small amount of money was set aside at the U for that, but the person running it transferred to the College of Liberal Arts, and so it never was assembled. He sounded like he'd bring the idea back to the university.
