What athletic chiefs cost MnSCU universities

We might have to rethink our futures here

Following news of how budget problems may force St. Cloud State to cut football — and possibly athletics administrators — the St. Cloud Times has dug up information on what it pays its chiefs in sports administration.

Here it lays out a comparison of the salaries of the university’s six athletic directors with the salaries of coaches at other Minnesota State College and University institutions.

The paper notes that St. Cloud State’s salaries are up to date. The other schools’ salaries were as of July 1, 2008.

What do you think? Are the salaries in line? How should universities pay their athletic directors?

For perspective, some numbers from the University of Minnesota might be useful…

Although the MNSCU numbers may sound high, they are peanuts compared to what goes on in the Big House.
