The clown of Aleppo

There are angels who walk among us, but they are no match for the evil of war.

Anas al-Basha could have left Aleppo any time. His parents left not long ago but he stayed behind as director/social worker of Space for Hope, an organization trying to maintain a civil society.

Al-Basha could make kids laugh. He’s a clown.

He’s dead, the Associated Press reports today.

His death came the day after UN World Food Program spokeswoman Bettina Luescher warned Aleppo civilians were enduring a “slow-motion descent into hell”.
