PR pros want nothing to do with lion killer

It appears that even public relations firms that handle some of the most toxic clients don’t want any part of Walter Palmer, the big-game-hunting dentist.

AdWeek’s PR Newser blog reports that iconic PR man Jon Austin (disclaimer: I believe he once worked for MPR) worked for Palmer for one day — Tuesday — when Palmer issued his “I thought it was all legal” defense in the killing of a lion in Zimbabwe.

Austin tweeted yesterday that he and Palmer are no longer doing business together, though he wasn’t very specific about the parting.

That put Austin almost as much in the gunsite of social media as Palmer, judging by the often-vile Twitter reaction.

“I would not even want to touch this,” Mike Crawford, president of Dallas-based communications firm M/C/C, told the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
